Origin Scout was built on the principle of transparency—not just for products, but for user data. We believe your browsing history is personal. Our extension is designed to function as a tool for you, not a tracking device for us.

2. Data Collection

We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal browsing data.

Origin Scout works locally within your browser. It analyzes the HTML of the product page you are currently viewing to identify country-of-origin information. This analysis happens on your machine, and the results are displayed to you in real-time. We do not maintain logs of which products you view or which websites you visit.

3. Information We Do Not Have

Because we do not use a central database to track user activity, we do not have access to:

• Your name, address, or contact details.
• Your IP address.
• Your shopping habits or purchase history.
• The specific URLs you browse.

4. Extension Permissions

To provide its core service, the extension requires permission to read the content of e-commerce pages. This is used strictly to locate "Made in" labels and metadata to provide the "Confidence Score." This data is never exported to external servers.

5. Third-Party Websites

Origin Scout functions as an overlay on third-party e-commerce sites. This policy does not apply to those sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of the marketplaces where you shop.
